Recovering credit recovery widgets

Liz McClelland – DeLC – Simcoe County DSB

Mike Sherwin – DeLC/TELT-C – Kawartha Pine Ridge DSB

This workshop is intended for DeLCs/TELT-Cs who have either never used credit recovery widgets or would like to learn how to update them with new content. Credit recovery widgets allow the synthetization of ministry content into a widget format to be delivered in credit recovery or alt ed sites allowing a multitude of course content to be accessed in a single D2L Brightspace shell. The recent release of more than 30 new and updated Master course shells in Brightspace prompted our boards to work together to update and streamline our credit recovery widgets and shells for use across our schools. During this session, we will show you how to create responsive table code for credit recovery widgets, copy and organize course files associated with the widgets and how to set up your credit recovery shells. We will also review some of the ways in which we support our credit recovery teams across our boards. At the end of the session, we will also share the updated table code with any participants who are interested.

Supporting Student Success in Online and Blended Environments

Andrew Bieronski – TELT-C – Waterloo Region DSB

Jennifer Shortreed – Administrator – Waterloo Region DSB

Supporting students to find success in eLearning and Remote settings brings unique challenges for students who may struggle to attend, engage and/or show their learning. This raises the question of what do Student Success settings and

Exploring the World Of Art for Online Learners

Todd Bosak – DeLC/TELT-C – Northeastern Catholic DSB

Virtual learning environments have the ability to give learners a window into art from not only across Canada, but around the world. Galleries such as The National Gallery of Canada, The Art Gallery of Ontario, as well as many others, have platforms that let students explore a rich universe of visual art. As well, most of these institutions have vibrant education staff that are excited to build partnerships with classes. This presentation will look at the partnership that has been created by a little school in Cobalt, Ontario, the Temskiskaming Art Gallery, and the McMichael Art Gallery to help students explore and understand their own community through the eyes of some of Canada’s most iconic artists. It will also explore the role of virtual field trips and strategic partnerships with galleries and artists in bringing art to even the most remote learner.
